Simply because my box of left(l)over paper needs a thorough clean-up, and I would prefer to do this together with you. This workshop is scheduled every 2nd of every month, but feel free to make a suggestion (we can set a date for groups of three or more people).

in workshop 3, we focus on the gothic letter, a script widely used in the middle ages for books. it was developed because its predecessor was too broad and time-consuming to write, taking up too much space on costly parchment. to address this, the script was made narrower and simpler, resulting in the gothic book hand. this style is defined by sharp, geometric shapes and vertical strokes. the gothic style is more complex and requires greater precision. caroline will guide you through the basics of mastering this sturdy and striking letterform.
